The LSAT is among the most important of law school admission requirements for several reasons. The exam has a long tradition as a screening device for prospective law students. Since the LSAT was first offered in 1948, it has been taken by several million law school applicants. The LSAT is also linked to law school rankings, particularly the methodology used by U.S. News & World Report (widely seen as the most credible of the American ranking systems). 25% of a law school's final U.S. News rank is devoted to a category called "selectivity," half of which is determined by the median LSAT scores of a program's accepted students. Law schools therefore compete to admit the highest-scoring applicants, because doing otherwise would risk a decline in the institution's rank and prestige. The LSAT is also viewed as a "level playing field" that is not affected by undergraduate major or other variable academic issues, and it is much easier for admissions officers to evaluate test scores than undergraduate coursework.
Aspiring law students should therefore make every effort to score as high as possible on the LSAT. Manhattan Review's LSAT prep courses and LSAT private tutoring have helped students around the world get accepted to fine institutions such as Harvard Law School, Georgetown Law Center, Yale Law School, the University of California's Hastings College of the Law, Stanford Law School, the University of Chicago Law School, and many other highly ranked programs. Our former LSAT clients have become lawyers for many different types of organizations, including major law firms, Fortune 500 companies, prominent charities, and government agencies. It is important for law students to consider employment outcomes before making their law school choices. The American Bar Association requires each of its accredited law schools to publish this data, and employment numbers are easily available on university websites. The institutions with the strongest job prospects for their graduates also generally expect the highest LSAT scores. The LSAT is therefore one of the keys to a bright legal future. Meet a Copenhagen LSAT Tutor: Ross Z.
Ross Z. is a graduate of the University of California-Los Angeles and Boston University School of Law. He has been a Copenhagen LSAT tutor since 2016, and taught LSAT prep in the Boston area from 2010 to 2015. Ross is currently employed as a staff attorney for a shipping company based in Copenhagen, and he also maintains a busy schedule of LSAT classes and individual tutoring sessions.
Ross's LSAT students have been accepted to many of the law schools ranked in the top 50 by U.S. News. He describes his teaching style in much the same way as he would talk about his approach to legal work. "The LSAT is great preparation for law school because of its use of logic," he says. "This is the most effective rhetorical tool that a lawyer has at his or her disposal – sound logic is hard to refute."
